Trade fair stand design 2023 | Polish stand for the 2023 international book fair Liber at the IFEMA Madrid|Team: Jan Strumiłło, assistant designer Zofia Zatorska, visual identity Helena Wierzbowska

Commissioned by the Polish Book Institute we designed a modular, reusable book fair stand. In order to make it stand out among generically orthogonal trade fair structures, we sought curved surfaces. Spirally ribbed steel ducting pipes became our winning solution. Their groovy walls reflect light in a distinct way and provide some fine-structure richness. Placed vertically they form an intriguing mini-landscape which is instantly recognizable in the surrounding octanorm sea. We supplemented the rounded geometry with our choice of Polish-produced seating and lighting. In order to give the stand a clear national identity the brief called for a red and white colour scheme. We navigated out of this narrow strait by adding some southern twist to the colour tones: white became warm gray while red turned into several different hues between clay and burgundy.
