Hyperlounger

At the request of Artloop festival in Sopot I invented and designed the hyperlounger. Hyperlounger is an art installation in public space. It means arranging classical deck chairs or loungers in such a way, that they provoke less ordinary use. We fixed the loungers to wooden platform that could freely rotate. So the loungers’ angle to the sun could be easily changed but only in the collective effort of all sitting on the hyperlounger. It is difficult for one person but effortless for many. The turning is encouraged by lines of colourful tape on the ground. I thought it would be nice to have people do something together in the public space, even if only to make themselves more comfortable. I designed a pattern that would be slightly different on each lounger making each one unique. The installation was consummated in the summer of 2014. I sure hope the loungers still serve their purpose somewhere.
